The Love of Mother

15 December 2006

A friend posted a song clip by Sammi Yusuf, Ya Ommi, or 'O Mother' which brings a very deep feeling to me. The tune is not extraordinary, but the lyric and the way Yusuf sings it brings tears down.

If your beloved mother already passed away, the song could really go far down to your deepest heart.

As a Muslim, of which Islam put mother so high, even three times higher than father, the state of respect and relationship to mother is extremely subtle and substantial. We are what we are mostly because of the love of our own mother.

That is why listening to this song when the mother is no longer around, there follows a deep prayer, a dua', that God would bless her at the very utmost, grant her the best place in heaven, forgive her wrong if any, multiply rewards to her good deeds and so on.

And may our prayer be heard and be granted. It is the children's prayers that go far and be listened by Allah the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful.
